R-alley Cat blow out.

The extreme cold destroyed all but one photo which is being saved and re-touched(heavily) as we speak. Corndog won. Monica was first and only female, she got all pink deep v's. Treebeard tumbled in at 2nd place, but there is no proof he didn't use his ham radio. Zack won the freestyle with a backwards spinning wheelie. DFL went to a young man on a full-suspension MTB. Needless to say, he had some mechanical issues...
Thanks to everyone who particapated, and special thanks to Counterbalance Bicycles and Saul from Raleigh USA.
Cheers
Robert

Thursday March 5th.

Tonight at the meeting we will be fine tuning the T-shirt designs. Voting for the shirts will last one week. Keep and eye out for Chuck and or Corndog.

We will also discuss our first fundraiser for the Westside R-alley Cat. We will need checkpoint folks and spectators. Checkpoints will not be revealed until the start of the race, sorry.

And, I am sure we will bs about a lot of shit too.

Also, Billy from Hooverville Bar says that they are working to fix up and re-open, but they may not be open by May. So, I have volunteered myself and everyone else to come help with clean-up.
Good Luck! Hooverville.

Thanks
Robert

Belltown Underground Confirmed.

Thanks to Joshua at the Underground Events Center for making this simple and easy. We now have access to this great space for two nights. The Dead Babies have agreed to run Security and the Bar. We want people to explore the city and find unique spots to finish out their evenings, so we are closing the venue at 12pm both nights. We can all go out and enjoy this great city we call Seattle. Both nights at the Underground will be beer only. If you register and pay for the Westside Invite you will recieve a custom waterbottle. With this waterbottle you will recieve beer from the WSI all weekend long. This includes the Underground, but no other bars in Seattle. If you have not registered or paid you can purchase a cup at the door and drink beer all night for $10, 21 and older only. We see the beer going very fast. Yum.

Meetings every Wednesday at Mobius Cycle.

Westside R-alley Cat

Yo. Kevin and I are throwin' this here alley cat to scare everyone away for good.

This alley cat is going to take you to the dirtiest, scummiest, and nastiest places in Seattle. This is the first of three Fundraisers that we are organizing to promote and fund the Westside 2009.
We will finish the race at the I-5 Colonnade with a BBQ and Fixed Freestyle and Footdown. If anyone wants to run a checkpoint please raise their hands now. There will be prizes, beer and food. Hopefully some blood and puncture wounds too. Kevin is organizing the freestyle event so as to iron out any kinks before the Westside in May. We are still debating on what style of freestyle to do. Will each rider get one minute to perform, or will it be a open session? Any suggestions?

Come out and join us, Rain or Shine.

Thanks
Robert.

I saw it for Myself.

It is true. A fire started in the building that housed Hooverville Bar this last Wednesday. No one was hurt and I believe it was not a total loss. The fire reportedly started in a ceiling fan on the upper floor. This may change the schedule for the Westside Invite, keep checking the website for updates. At some point we, as a bicycle community, should get together and find a way to help the owners clean up or rebuild. Hooverville Bar has been an ardent supporter of messenger and other cycling events since they opened, and we owe them our gratitude.

Thanks
Robert

The Dead.

Tonight a meeting with the Dead Babies. Our goal: Bring them to sobriety. It will be a long and hard fight...

Now really, we are trying to organize a Fundraiser for the Dead Baby ride Friday the 6th of March. We hope to end it at Hooverville and some how raise some money there. A Foosball tournament is also in the works.

The following day, Saturday the 7th of March, Kevin Anderson and I are organizing the Westside Ralley Cat. This will be an alleycat that explores the alleys and nasty spaces that our wonderful city has to offer. The start location has not been finalized, but we plan to finish at the I-5 collonade MTB park for a barbeque and a Fixed Freestyle event. The alleycat will start at 2pm and will be $10.

Fliers will be available soon.

One more for the Road.

Another quality meeting. Thanks to everyone in attendance. Over the next few weeks we are going to be putting together the data portion of the racebook. We are compiling a list of the best Coffee Shops, Bars, Restaurants, Bike Shops and Oddities in the Seattle areas that will be visited during the Westside Invite. As expected we have come up with to many. The material that we refine will be given to Jason Britton. Jason will design the racebook with art direction from everyone with a mouth. Good luck Jason!

There was an very impromptu T-Shirt design contest that concluded last night with six excellent designs produced. In two weeks these six designs will be digitally rendered in ballot form for the Seattle messenger community to vote on. The winning design will be applied to the majority of shirts, but not the first 25. Mark Pilder, bless his soul, will be printing them for us. It is said he will work for raw meat and IPA, but this information is unsubstantiated.

I also have word of a possible Title sponsor. Knog, a bicycle light and accessory manufacture out of Australia has stepped up and offered to be the title sponsor. Their monetary assistance will rid us of any worries we had about covering the costs of food, prizes, permits and race kits. If you are coming form out of town prepare to take a lot more shit home with you than you brought here. Having a title sponsor also means their name goes in the title, so there may be some major changes in the next few weeks. Keep checking the website for updates.

Thanks
Robert
